Re: Bilic Board meeting determines he's the man - sacked
As others have mentioned, it is as much about the supporting coaching team as the manager. It depends on the level to which the manager is "hands on" or involved in the detail (training, tactics, fitness, player development) of course,

I always got the impression Bilic left the detail to the little scruffy guy on the bench in terms of tactical adjustments and substitutions. What about the day to day. Was Bilic involved in setting the detailed requirements? I highly doubt it so the team any new man brings in will also be key.

Silva ( yeah I know they surrendered a 3 goal lead yesterday) at Watford supposedly is involved in everything. Same as Conte etc.

We need someone that has a vision and system and can implement it from the ground up. Ultimately it will probably mean new players in some positions but starting from day 1 implementing a system. explaining roles, getting fitness up to scratch, working out who will be prepared and equipped to play in each role. It does not happen overnight but we need someone who has the understanding from top to bottom. On top of all that , this person has to understand human psychology and how to get the best from people.

Simples ;-)

Hiddink for me. Pay the dosh. He has the best rack record and would come for the right money if only temporarily ? But he would establish foundations and then the trick is to get someone else in to continue them.

Southampton manage it with far less resources than us. It can be done but the owners are the problem. They don't know what they don't know, have huge psychological issues ( small man syndrome Sullivan) and hence interfere. Sullivan's "mea culpa " has to be the realisation that he has to hand over to people who know what they are doing on the football side and that he is not qualified. This is the root of all the problems now.

I also wish Bilic and his family the very best, his players truly let him down and were shit no doubt about that along with his coaching staff.
Although he did play players out of natural position and had some very defensive tactics which never really worked because his players could not defend.

Re: Bilic
In many ways Bilic was similar to John Lyall in that he was too loyal to the players and they let him down.

That being said considering he was an international defender himself I have been shocked at how bad he was at organising a defence.

I look forward to the many three-day gaps in your posting.

Or do you put your lap-top on your lover's face?

If Moyes is confirmed as Bilics replacement; with his experience from the Everton days I think he can do a good job for West Ham once he has sorted out the deadwood from the team and gets a couple of players in January.
Let's face it; it cannot be any worse than what we are seeing at the moment.

Yes I have returned from my very pathetic Whoiiside, it lasted 3 day's which reminds me of my love making skills..
The sacking is a positive the only negative being it should have been done over a year ago or at least 3 games ago when West ham lost to Brighton.
I actually think West ham could do with a defensive manager because things are that poor at the moment, anyone who thinks that West ham are going to become Brazil overnight with Koeman or a bigger name is having a laugh.
Whoever comes in has a big job to do they have to dismantle whatever went before and redo all the terrible coaching the players learned add to that some serious fucking fitness training too, but it must all start from the back otherwise West ham might go down, unless that is Bilic was so hated that the players purposely played shit.
I could not think of anyone worse than Moyes but I will support a monkey rite now I want what is best for West ham.

,

Yes it was a great season, but if we beat Swansea at home and get a result against Stoke away we finish top 4.

He should unbelievable naivety also in his selection against Man United in the cup game.

Don't get me wrong it was a great season, but it could have been and should have been better.

Credit to Bilic is due to managing us to our best season to date since the PL began. Best point total, first ever positive goal difference, fewest PL defeats and joint best number of wins in a season.

If Bilic takes the opportunity to reflect on his time with us and work out where he went wrong, I'm sure he will succeed somewhere else.

Re: Bilic
I feel sorry for him as he is a nice guy and at least he cares but I really couldn't see a way he could turn things around. Maybe Watford's way of changing their manager every year is the way forward these days because so many managers, not just ours, seem to have great seasons followed by the players serving up absolute dross in following years.

Look at the likes of Roeder, Pardew and Bilic, all good first seasons then the wheels came off. Elsewhere Ranieri is probably the best example. Pardew again at Newcastle, Rodgers at Liverpool, Mourinho second time around at Chelsea and now possibly even Conte.

Re: Bilic
great 1st season...winning away to arsenal, city, liverpool...battering most teams at home...

it was the first time i can remember not being concerned about going behind...always had the guts and goals to come back & win.

the move to stratford had an effect on the team. to say otherwise is ignoring our history.

no time in the (shit) modern game for sentiment or giving a manager time to recover/build a team. it's all about 6-12 games to get results.

so over to the next manager. hopefully we win a cup every few years to break up the boredom of the sky premiership.

He had to go but I still cant help feeling gutted for him. He was let down by a lot of players/people at the club but he didn't help himself either.

Still cant hate the bloke and hope he goes on to succeed somewhere else.

About time. 19 months too late but at least we can now focus on saving our season.

Moyes hasn't been confirmed yet has he so lets cross our fingers in hope it is just speculation.
